According to Wikipedia, radiant heating is a technology utilized for the heating of both indoor and outdoor areas. Radiant heating consists of "radiant energy" being emitted from a heat source.
The below photos are just a selection of the work we have performed. Click here for further photos.
We are not only members of the Radiant Panel Association (RPA), but are also the only certified installers through RPA in Monterey County. The RPA sets the standards used in the radiant heating industry. To hold this certification we are required to have up to date training and continuing education programs. Another important aspect of this certification is the benefit it gives to anyone wanting a HERS rating (see below). Points are received towards this Energy Star rating by using an RPA certified installer as well as an independently engineered system (see our vendors).
LMI has been factory trained and certified by the following manufacturers:
The Home Energy Rating System Program (HERS) is a home energy rating involving an analysis of a home’s construction plans and onsite inspections. Based on the home’s plans, the Home Energy Rater uses an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analysis of the home’s design. This analysis yields a projected, pre-construction HERS Index. Upon completion of the plan review, the rater will work with the builder to identify the energy efficiency improvements needed to ensure the house will meet ENERGY STAR performance guidelines. The rater then conducts onsite inspections, typically including a blower door test (to test the leakiness of the house) and a duct test (to test the leakiness of the ducts). Results of these tests, along with inputs derived from the plan review, are used to generate the HERS Index score for the home.
We utilize products from the following manufacturers and we have supplied links if you wish further information on any of these products or manufacturers.
One of people's largest concerns and most asked questions have to do with floor coverings and what type of radiant heating system to use. The flooring guide offered through the RPA is a great tool to help understand some or the dirreant types of systems, and how differant floor coverings effect a system. It is important to remember that floor coverings are a part of a system. If you are choosing to have a radiant heating system installed and you change the flooring after engineering, please inform your heating contractor. A floor change can make a huge difference on the heating capacity of the floor.
Our primary vendor for radiant heating products is Hydronics Specialties Company (HSC). They have been our primary vendor since 1995.
Monterey Energy Group is responsible for our independent engineering and designing of most of the radiant heating system that we install. Having a independently engineered system is critical to any quality installation. LMI utilizes Monterey Energy Group as a way to provide full service system design when projects come directly to us with engineering requirements.
Annual maintenance is an important part of all radiant heating systems. There are many different items within a system that should be maintained annually. Pictured above are the deposits from combustion that we often find in today's smaller condensing boilers. If left unserviced, these deposits will cause damage and service failure. We offer a annual service maintenance program for the systems that we install. We cannot promise you that you will not have a system failure, but it is far more unlikely to have system problems if properly maintained. If you'd like to be added to our annual maintenance service schedule please contact us.
